Séamus Patrick Gray, 21, died in a tragic accident March 18, 2023, in Chicago, IL. In true Irishman fashion he made it past St. Paddy’s Day. He was born February 22, 2002, in Manhasset, NY, the son of Kerry Ryan Rodier and Michael Gray.
Séamus graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL, in 2020 where he played lacrosse and had the best time of his life. Following high school, he attended Nassau Junior College in Garden City, NY, where he played Goalie for their National Championship lacrosse team in 2021. A true patriot, Séamus’ dream was to join the US Navy in the field of Special Operations. In July 2022, he left for boot camp. He graduated September 30, 2022, and received the Recruit Honor Ribbon given to the top 10 recruits out of the 1400 in the program. Séamus was due to graduate from Surface Warfare Engineering School in April, 2023.
Séamus was loved by so many and will be remembered for his devotion to family and country as well as for his DRY sense of humor, wit, athletic prowess, and brilliance.
Séamus is survived by his parents Kerry Ryan Rodier of Jupiter, FL, and Michael Gray of Stuart, FL; his younger brother Déaglán (Deck) Gray; his grandmother Catherine Rodier of Jupiter, FL; his Uncle Scott and Aunt Karen and cousins Julie and Lisa Jivin of East Northport, NY; his Aunt Carole and Uncle Fred Dauch of Marco Island, FL; and cousins Ali and Timmy Diltz of Glastonbury, CT.
Séamus was predeceased by his grandfather and best friend, Edward Rodier of Manhasset, NY.
Séamus is also survived by his Aunt Anne and Uncle Martin Pugh and cousins Adrian, Terry and Joanne of Longford, Ireland.
A wake will be held at Aycock Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458, 3 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm on May 12, 2023.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1701 Indian Creek Parkway, Jupiter, 33458, at 10am on May 13, 2023.
Interment with full military honors will follow Mass at Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 SE County Line Road, Tequesta, FL 33469.
