Once upon a very recent time, there was a man... he was a good man, a fair man, a kind man, a generous man, a gentle man, and a loved man. His name was Robert Lee Carson. Born January 21, 1958 in Freeport, Illinois. He was the son of Clyde and Caroline (Blum) Carson. He leaves behind a brother, Ralph, wife Cheryl and nephew Cody of Lemoore, California. Sister Cindy Fisher and late husband Grant Fisher of Rockford, Illinois. Niece Becky (Fisher) Taylor, husband Dan and daughters Isabella and Alexandra. Nephew Grant Fisher II, wife Antoinette and children, Jacob, Audrey and Natalie. He had several aunts, uncles and cousins which he loved spending time with at family gatherings.
The past year became a struggle for Bob as he battled cancer. Although he suffered greatly he remained positive and upbeat until God called him home on February 1, 2022.
He was affectionately called Uncle Bob, Chicago Bob, Boy Scout Bob, and Reverend Sunshine and Lollipops. His favorite was undoubtedly Papa Crazy Hair of which his grandchildren called him.
Bob grew up in Rockford, Illinois. He loved his hometown and established close relationships from childhood through his days at Rockford College.
He was a proud West High Warrior graduated of 1976. He was involved in ensuring that the class reunions brought not just his graduating class together but all alumni.
Bob left Rockford in the early 1980’s to attend Florida Southern College. He loved warm weather, the sun and water so he stayed and made Florida his home.
Bob had several jobs throughout the following years including aquatic director for the Boy Scouts of America and lifeguard at various places. He was instrumental in helping with stricter rules and pool safety guidelines of the Drowning Prevention in Palm Beach County Florida, a cause he was passionate about.
Bob established his business, Carson Quality Services in 1988. He specialized in pool and spa repair and was loved by his customers and formed a special relationship with them.
Bob enjoyed kayaking, growing fresh vegetables, camping, attending music festivals and giving selflessly of his time to help the Boy Scouts of America. He loved his home and the community of Jupiter Farms and was always willing to help a neighbor.
Bob proclaimed that November 12, 2013 was the happiest day of his life when he married his wife, Dorlah (Listenberger). Dorlah could not argue that, as she claimed the same. Friends would say that their love story was that of a fairytale and their love and devotion was a testament of what marriage is about.
His loving wife brought into the marriage two sons. Ryan Vyborny of Rockford, Illinois, wife Melissa and grandchildren Elsa, Xander and Miles and Dorlah’s younger son Garrett Vyborny of Middletown, Maryland, fiancée Katrina Hallein and grandchildren Ella and Landon. He was so proud of his bonus family and considered them his own.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
