Patricia R. Reighley

Patricia (Patty) Reighley, 95 of Hobe Sound, FL and New Canaan, CT passed away peacefully on January 3, 2021 at her home in Florida surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in East Orange, NJ on June 27, 1925, the daughter of the late Marvin J. and Florence M. Reynolds.

Patty grew up in Montclair, New Jersey and went on to attend LaSalle Junior College. She married Henry Ward Reighley on May 15, 1948, and they shared 62 wonderful years together until Ward’s passing in 2011. In 1959, they moved to New Canaan where they raised their four children. They spent their summers on the island of Nantucket, a special place for all the family. They were long time members of the Country Club of New Canaan, the Nantucket Yacht Club, and the Jupiter Island Club.

Patty was admired by so many for her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in the lives of everyone she knew. Above all, it was her deep faith and love of family that were the hallmarks of her life. Nothing was more important to her than spending time with her family, who loved gathering around her wherever she was, including on many fabulous trips.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Lindsey and Dick Thune, Jill and Wes Christensen, Nancy and John Cavanaugh, and Bill and Laurie Reighley; 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held for her in Nantucket this summer. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, 118 Cliff Road, Nantucket, MA 02554 or the Waveny Care Center, 3 Farm Road, New Canaan, CT 06840.
