Patricia, Pat, Patsy, died peacefully at her home in Jupiter, FL on July 10th, 2024. She will forever be endearingly remembered by her 22 grandchildren as Omi. Patricia was born in Bronx, NY and attended Dewitt Clinton HS and the Barbizon Modeling School. She was raised by her parents, George Pullets a NYC Firefighter and her mother, Margaret “Chickie” Kyritz-Pullets.
Pat loved to dance and in 1952, at the urging of her elementary school friend Vinny Brana, attended a Fordham University Tea Dance where she met her future husband Patrick McGrath. They married four years later on June 29th, 1957 and resided in the Bronx until they bought their first home in Morris Plains, NJ in 1960. As the family was growing at a rapid pace, they moved to Shippan Point, CT and then to Pelham Manor, NY where they stayed anchored for 42 years.
We often referred to our mom as “Martha Stewart” as she was an avid and excellent cook, baker, gardener, furniture restorer, seamstress and artist. She loved projects big and small; in 1980 she purchased a 150 year old Farmhouse in Millbrook, NY and completely restored the house herself. She was never afraid to swing a hammer or use a power drill and was often seen driving her pick-up truck with the license plate “Ma Kettle.”
Pat also loved adventure, and in 1987 she and Patrick purchased a home in Dorado, PR where they loved spending time with their growing family and patiently trying to ace the native language. In 1996, they expanded their footprint and took on the challenge of restoring a 100 year old beach house in WH, NY. Again, the “GC” of the reno, Pat was often seen donning a tool belt. She put her heart and soul into the house and enjoyed cherished memories with her family.
After the death of her husband Patrick, she moved to Jupiter, FL in 2015 where she lived out her golden years. A broken hip and the onset of dementia brought Pat’s Dream Team of Caregivers into her life whose compassion, care, love and patience allowed Pat to “live her best life.” She was a regular at the Jupiter Community Center whose incredible array of programs kept her enjoying dancing, attending movies, luncheons, and socializing at game time.
Patricia is survived by her 5 children, 22 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; a son, James McGrath (Martha), her daughters, Maryann McNamara (Jim), Deann Snook (Randy), Brinn O’Rourke (Peter) and Kristian Leno-Spaulding (Jeff.); her sister, Arline Kubat and her sister-in-law, Debbie Pullets.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Patrick John McGrath in 2013 and her brother, Arthur “Buzzy” Pullets in 2021.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of our beautiful and vibrant mom, we are directing donations in her name to The 50 Plus Programs at the Community Center where she was able to live “her best life:”
