James “Jim” Bullock Pittard Jr., 76, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL passed away on December 31st, 2022, at the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center surrounded by loving family. Jim was born in West Palm Beach on April 23rd,1946, a son to the late Lavonia (Rogers) and James Bullock Pittard Sr.
In his youth, Jim was an active member of the DeMolay fraternity. After graduating with his Masters of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University, Jim started his career in banking in 1969 working at First Federal Savings and Loan of Lake Worth. During this time, he taught accounting as an adjunct professor at Palm Beach Community College, was the president of the Gold Coast Chapter of the Financial Managers Society, and served on the governing body of the Florida Interchange Group.
In 1982, Jim became senior vice president at Community Savings and Loan, and rose to the position of president in 1992. He retired from banking in 2001, after selling Community Savings to Bank Atlantic.
Jim served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach for many years, teaching Sunday school and leading a men’s group. Jim was a frequent golfer, car enthusiast, and loved to collect fountain pens.
Jim met Judith Lee Wood while attending First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach. They married and had two children, Bryan and Jeff. After 29 years, they divorced, and Jim then married Sheila Marie Owens in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. They were married for 25 years before his passing and spent time between their homes in Maggie Valley, NC and Jupiter, FL. The couple loved to dote on their blonde labradors, Cisco and Jake.
Preceding Jim in death are his sisters, Jeanette Pittard Johns and Caroline Pittard Speir and his nieces, Deidre Lyn Speir and Cynthia Lee Johns.
Remaining to cherish Jim’s memory are his wife Sheila; his children, James Bryan Pittard of Seattle, WA and Jeffrey Brent Pittard of York, SC; his grandchild, Henry Norrin Pittard; and his nieces, Lisa Johns, Jennifer Johns Janssen, and Kristin Speir Wysong.
There will be a funeral service at 1pm on Saturday, January 14th at Aycock Funeral Home, located at 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458.
