On November 27, 2024, Harriet Louise O’Connor peacefully joined the angels after a brave battle with vascular Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. At 86 years old, she leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and countless cherished memories.
Born in Philadelphia PA, Harriet was the beloved daughter of Elmer and Bertha Hansen. She grew up surrounded by the love and laughter of her siblings Elmer Jr. (Bud), Ann Jean Cannon (Annie), Robert (Bob), Mary Jane Houck, Thomas (Tom), James (Jimmy), and Dennis (Den), forming bonds that lasted a lifetime.
On April 4, 1959, she married James O’Connor, at a beautiful ceremony in Pennsylvania, where they raised three children: Harriet (Devin), James, and Mary Therese. Harriet was also the proud and devoted grandmother of Sarah, Rachel, and Christian, who filled her heart with endless joy.
Harriet’s vibrant spirit was unmatched—she had a zest for life that was contagious. Whether enjoying a glass of merlot, visiting her favorite casino, or simply making those around her laugh, Harriet had a way of making life sweeter for everyone she touched. Her family asks that she be remembered not with sadness but with smiles for the love and joy she brought into the world.
She is survived by her loving daughter Devin and her husband Shawn; granddaughters Sarah and her husband Tim, and Rachel and her fiancé A.Jay; as well as her many well-loved nieces and nephews and friends. Her final moments were spent peacefully, surrounded by family.
Thank you to the amazing team of Nurses and Caregivers of Tequesta Terrace in the Memory Care Unit, along with everyone from Activities, Dining and the Front Desk. They gave Mom the best last years of her life.
