He grew up in Centerville Indiana, and the family moved to South Florida in the 70’s. There Harold followed in his dad’s footsteps and became a general contractor, specializing in the construction of homes and buildings. He loved the scheme of creation of buildings. He also was quite talented in decorative design once the building and rooms were created.
He is survived by two wonderful sons. Thomas Marting (Aimee, nee Black) of Ohio, grandsons Matthew and Joshua Thomas, and Scott Allen Marting (Ann, nee Packard), and grandson John Packard Marting of North Palm Beach FL. Harold met his wife Bonnie in 1995 and fell deeply in love. He married Bonnie on October 12, 1997 and together they created a home in Jupiter, FL. He was loved and cherished by his family and so many, many friends.
Harold enjoyed boating, classic cars, and his church friends and family. He was a long time member of Oceanview Church in Juno Beach, since its inception in 1983. Harold was instrumental in replenishing the spirit of Bonnie’s old family church in Troy Center, Wisconsin by bringing back a beacon of the cross replacing the no longer lit cross and rebuilding it, with the help of his cousin Ron Adams, whose wife Tami, along with Bonnie, were granddaughters of one of the main members of the church in the 1940’s and 1950s.
A memorial service for Harold will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458.
