He was born in Ellabell GA on August 8, 1931 to the late Dessie and Elbert Sims. Enon married the beautiful Maxine Averett on March 10, 1956.
He served our country in the United States Air Force from 1950 until 1954 and was honorably discharged. Enon was employed with FAA for 42 years and retired in April of 1994. His greatest passion was playing tennis. He won several awards for participation and excellence in the Golden Olympics. He also enjoyed gardening, bicycling and entertaining his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Recently, Enon was elected to the executive board for the Oak Forest Neighborhood Watch. He was a loving man who always put God and his family first. Enon was an active member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.
Enon was preceded in death by his son Lee Sims, as well as twelve brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife Maxine Sims and his brother John M. Sims of Hapeville, GA. He is also survived by five children: Kathy Siefken-Cox, Cheran Sims, and Tim Sims of Jonesboro, John W. Sims of Stockbridge and Patti Insinna of McDonough. He is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm Thursday, January 30 at the Tara Garden Chapel on North Avenue in Jonesboro, GA. The funeral will be Friday, January 31 at 11 am also at the Tara Garden Chapel. Interment at Sherwood Memorial Park.
