Robbie was born Brooklyn, NY on August 4th,1950. He retired as a Sergeant first class from the US Army after 20 years of service and proudly served as a member of the color guard. He was a lifetime member of disabled American veterans, a member of the American Legion and worked as a US postal service mail handler and a security guard after his retirement.
Robbie and his wife Diane Rosella Robinson married on September 3, 1988, and just celebrated their 36th anniversary. He called Diane “Wifey” and would frequently tell her, “They didn’t believe in us, but God Did”.
With an impeccable sense of style, he was voted "Best dressed" in high school, and enjoyed shooting pool, listening to music (especially jazz), and playing cards. He confounded several bands where he sang and taught himself how to play the flute and toured in Vicenva, Italy and Mannheim Germany. He loved spending time with his family listening to his music. Later in life he had his own online radio station on Pandora, and lived his life by the motto, “If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready”.
He is preceded in death by his stepson Ernie Root, grandparents, Pastor Floyd Radden Jane “Big Mama” Radden, parents Howard Edward Robinson (stepmom: Lillian Robinson) and Gloria Lucille Robinson, and brothers Ronald Rajae Robinson and Donald Lynn Robinson.
He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Robbie is survived by his wife Diane, their beloved Siberian Husky Sasha, his daughters Chinita Grant, and Kenya Robinson, stepchildren Charles Root, and Sarah Wilder, brothers Shu’aib Raheem and wife (Jo Ann Jamilah), Michael Muhammad Robinson and wife (Sue Fatima), Anthony Sharif Robinson (wife Bonnie), sisters Annette Yvonne Edwards “Vonnie” and Yolanda Denise Moore, grandchildren Chandler Grant, Jaden Blyden, Justice Root, Aubree Root, Christopher Root, and Dylan Allen.
A visitation for Robbie will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Horis A. Ward, INC. Tara Chapel, 681 North Ave, Jonesboro, GA 302362223, followed by a funeral from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
