Elsie Mae Shaffer, 85, of Granville, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Licking Memorial Hospice. She was born December 30, 1938 in Dillonvale, OH to Joseph and Bessie Vojacek. Growing up on a small farm, Elsie acquired a strong work ethic that carried through her entire life. As a teen she became involved in 4-H winning multiple awards for her baking and sewing projects. In high school she met her lifelong love Albert and following her graduation they would marry on August 15th, 1959. Elsie worked a few years before starting her family and creating a household full of love and joy. She maintained a large garden and during harvest would can and freeze for her family. She also had an amazing green thumb and surrounded the home with beautiful flowers that were the envy of many. She also continued her baking skills and would bake hundreds of Christmas cookies each year and an apple pie that friends and family would request. Elsie is known as being one of the happiest people you would ever meet. She had an infectious smile and a positive attitude regardless of what life presented her. Elsie is survived by her children, Glenn (Teri) Shaffer of Newark, OH and daughter Michele (Steve) Fireovid of Bryan, Oh. Brother Joe (Roseanne) Vojacek of Pataskala, OH. Grandchildren, Jason Shaffer, Becky Shaffer, Adam Fireovid & Rachel Fireovid. Great-grandchildren Morgan, Zach & Briar Shaffer, Laci & Amber Williams. She was pre-deceased by her parents followed by her husband Albert in 2018. Friends may call from 12 – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Calvin Alexander officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd. SE, Newark, OH 43055 in Elsie’s memory.
