Sidney Allen Campbell was born on June 4, 1938 and passed away on June 10, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Booth Campbell, and his parents James Lafayette Campbell and Georgia Jackson Campbell. He is survived by his children Craig Campbell and Beth Cole (Bill) of Knoxville. Sid was the thirteenth child born of this union; his surviving brothers and sisters include Jim (Brenda) Campbell and Gladys Hughes, and a special niece, Mrs. Linda Armstrong. A graveside service was held at Monte Vista Memorial Park on Saturday, June thirteenth.
He and Barbara were life-long residents of Johnson City and graduates of Science Hill High School, where Sid lettered in football and track. He was a topped ranked runner in the senior division in Tennessee and was ranked fifth in The United States in the 1990s.
The Honorable Sid A. Campbell retired from Sprint in sales and marketing, and from The Salvation Army in 2019. He was previously a member of the Lions Club, Junior Civitan Club, and served as a Johnson City Commissioner from 1977-1981, as the Washington County Foreman of the Grand Jury from 1984-1990. He was elected for four consecutive terms on the Washington County Commission. He loved working outdoors, horticulture, history, and animals, especially dogs.
