"Maria Luise “Marlies” Gamroth Hartman, age 88, passed away on May 10, 2024. Marlies was born in Essen, Germany on August 25, 1935. She owned and operated hotels and restaurants there and in Italy. In the early 1980’s she moved to Martin County.
Marlies was an avid gardener and had a real green thumb. She loved to entertain and was a wonderful hostess.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hartman, and her son, Holmer Gamroth. Her later years were spent with her loving companion, Joe Romano, who passed in 2021.
Marlies is survived by her 3 daughters: Astrid, Germany; Betina, Germany; Michaela, Italy, and their families, including 4 granddaughters. She will be missed by her stepsons, Chip (Mari) Hartman, Hunk (Bonnie) Hartman, and 4 granddaughters.
The family would like to thank the Cabana at Jensen Dunes for all the care and comfort given to Marlies.
Marlies will be interred at Fernhill Cemetery on a later date in a private service.
