She was born June 24, 1918 in Jefferson, a daughter of the late James Lee “Tucker” and Harriett Bradbury Armstrong.
Mrs. Fischer had lived most all of her life in Jefferson and was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church.
During WW II she had worked as a bus driver for Jefferson Township, and later drove school bus for the Jefferson-Morgan School District.
On October 15, 1935 she married Harry W. Fischer, who died March 6, 1996.
Surviving is a son, James W. Fischer of Jefferson; two grandchildren, Tracy L. Fischer of Jefferson and Marsha Fischer Morton of Clarksville; 3 great grandchildren, LaSandra Fischer, Santha Fischer and Talia Fischer; two sisters, Clara Vekas of Youngstown, OH and Frances Murphy of Jefferson.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a grandson, James Lee Fischer; four brothers, Glen Armstrong, R. Guy Armstrong, Ralph “Jack” Armstrong, and Bill Armstrong; and 3 siblings in infancy.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the Behm Funeral Home, Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. John R. Dorean officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson.
