He was born May 28, 1930 in Point Marion, a son of the late Osey Richards and Edna Drake Richards Naylor.
Mr. Richards served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was a millwright at Crucible Steel Industries.
Mr. Richards was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Waynesburg where he was a deacon and an usher. He was a regular visitor of patients in nursing homes.
He was an electrician, carpenter, and gardener, and enjoyed hunting.
On February 24, 1952 he married Helen Rakas, who survives.
Also surviving are a son Eli (Brad) and his wife Cheryl of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; a daughter, Millie Zapsic and her husband, Don of Columbus, OH; eight grandchildren Tricia Smith, Andrea Ghinga, Ryan Zapsic, Brandon Richards, Kay Klaiber, Matthew Richards, Carrie Zapsic, and Rudy Frescas; five great-grandchildren, Grant Zapsic, Hailey Ghinga, Kyla Zapsic, Dylan Smith, and Raela Zapsic; and a sister, Ruby Dorr of Sebring, FL.
Deceased in addition to her parents and step-father, Ernest Naylor are ten siblings, George Richards, Lester Richards, Goldie Murray, Dollie Fowler, Ruth Brown, Willis Richards, Gertrude Richards, Delbert Richards, Osey Richards, Jr., and Esther Ordich Altman.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m., the hour of service, Tuesday in the Trinity Baptist Church, 821 E. Roy Furman Highway, Waynesburg, with Pastor Edward Woods officiating. Interment will be on Wednesday, July 18, at 11:00 a.m. in Beaver Cemetery, Buffalo Street,, Beaver, PA 15009 (Beaver County). Arrangements are under the direction of the Behm funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, with Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor.
