She was born October 1, 1928 in Allison a daughter of the late Samuel J. “Cubby” and Leona Edwards Baer.
She was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.
Mrs. Beatty had worked as a cook for the Greene County Jail, and as a teacher’s aide for Pitt Gas School.
She resided most of her life in Pitt Gas where she was affiliated with the Pitt Gas Missionary Church.
Mrs. Beatty enjoyed crocheting and made many heirloom table cloths. She also enjoyed watching professional golf on television.
Surviving are five children, Loretta Ebner of Alexandria, VA, Jim (Lynn) Beatty of West Union, WV, Robert Beatty of Wind Ridge, Barbara Dickey of Carmichaels, and Mary Hager of Pitt Gas; 7 grandchildren, Matthew Ebner, Ryan Beatty, Beth Uvegas, Shane Dickey, Abrahm Dickey, Ashley Cyr, and Patrick Hager; 11 great-grandchildren, Emily, Caroline, and Abigail Beatty, Anna and Lauren Uvegas, Isabella, Isaac, and Adrianna Dickey, Jenna and Kevin Cyr, and Evan Kniha (Hager); six sisters, Eleanor Vuicich of Charleston, SC, Gladys Kubasik of Levittown, Jean (Adolph) Mysza of Parma Hts., OH, Shirley (John) Coss of Waynesburg, Patty (Jay) Snincak of Fort Mill, SC, and Janet (Gary) Foster of Dale City, VA.; and one brother, Walter (Phyllis) Baer of Apollo.
Deceased are a grandson, James Beatty, a brother, Samuel R. Baer; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Baer; a sister, Leona Faye Devecka; and a brother-in-law David D. Devecka Sr.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, where services will be held Friday, September 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with Albert White officiating followed by interment in Greene County Memorial Park.
