Shelia Ann Busby, of Demopolis, Alabama, 78, was born in Nauvoo, Alabama on August 31,1946. Shelia went to meet her heavenly father in the early morning hours of October 30, 2024 in Calais, Maine surrounded by her adoring sons.
A service will be held at Kilgore Green Funeral Home in Jasper, Alabama on Tuesday November 5th. Visitation will be open from 10:00-11:00 AM. The service will be at 11:00-12:00 PM with the burial proceeding at Pleasantfield Baptist Cemetery.
Shelia was married to the love of her life Larry Truman Busby for 52 years. Together they had two sons, Wilson Allen and Larry Wayne, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Sheila was known to always refer to her beloved sons simply as “my boys.” Professionally, Shelia was a cosmetologist. A graduate of T.W. Martin High School, Shelia impressively received her Alabama cosmetologist license after apprenticeship only.
Shelia was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Truman Busby; father, Horace Wilson Lowery and mother, Marjorie Bell.
Shelia Busby is survived by her husband, Norman Doug Gann who she found much joy, love, and comfort with in her later years. Sheila is also survived by her sister, Sue Lowery Briley Gay, her sons, Wilson Allen Busby and Larry Wayne Busby, her grandchildren, Alan Trent Busby, Kealon Michael Busby, Morgan Victoria Busby, Riley Jo Busby and great-grandson, Duncan
Gower Busby.
Shelia was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother. Sheila served in many capacities through her local church. Sheila had a God-given talent for singing. She was a godly woman whose life was filled with fervent prayer and service. Shelia’s life simply put was one of dedication to her faith, community, family and friends. Those around her never failed to recognize her unwavering commitment to those friendships. Her beautiful and God-given voice
carried through many aisles of ministry, that was her pulpit. Shelia considered her greatest vocation on Earth to bring her community and family to know the
Lord. She was adored by her sons and revered by her grandchildren. In her free time she could often be found at the local prison witnessing to inmates the saving power of Jesus Christ. Shelia’s legacy is lasting and rings throughout eternity.
Paying homage to Shelia’s love of music, Shelia’s granddaughter Riley Jo is the co-founder of the Emily Marie Bivens Memorial Foundation, a non-profit who provides scholarships to youth with financial based needs to receive an education in classical music. Shelia's family has asked that donations be made to either the Emily Marie Bivens Memorial Foundation or the God Behind Bars ministry in lieu of flowers.
