Family will be receiving friends at Eldridge Baptist Church, Friday, December 8, 2023, from 2 until 3 p.m. Service will follow at Eldridge Baptist Church at 3 p.m., with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Quantico National Cemetery. David Pickard will officiate.
Michael Talmage Everett was born on February 5, 1950 in Quantico, Virginia to his late parents Grady T. Everett and Helen L. Everett. He was raised in Meridian, Mississippi and joined the United States Marine Corps at 17 years old. He served honorably for 6 years and as a Lance Corporal earned the Nation’s third highest award, the Silver Star, for his gallantry in action during the Vietnam War. Mike went on to serve 32 years at Tuscaloosa Police Department as a Captain in numerous divisions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Helen Harper Everett.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Sims Everett; daughters, Marie Everett Penuel (John Chris) and Mary Katherine Everett; grandchildren, Madelynne Penuel, Lundy Penuel and Doc Everett; brother, Timothy Wayne Everett (Lisa); nephew, Jackson Everett and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department and Eldridge Baptist Operation Christmas Child. The family would like to thank the VA Home Bound Primary Care Team, Gentiva Hospice, Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department, Maurice Estes Ingle and Elizabeth Dodd for their care and support.
