Family will be receiving friends on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 7 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. Jerry “Zeke” Smith will officiate.
Ed was born November 17, 1952. He grew up in Prince’s Springs, where he attended McNeil Elementary, and graduated from Hueytown High School. He retired after 30 years with US Steel and worked at Arvin Industries in Fayette. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Ed Wayne Briggs, Jr.; parents, Ed Prince Briggs and Leola “Sister” Briggs Gurganus; grandparents, Paul and Grace McLemore and John CarLile and Lucy Foote Briggs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joeva Nagle Briggs; daughters, Leigh Anne Morgan (Aaron) and Chasen Grace Heberling (Justin); grandchildren, McKinley Chase Morgan, Michael Briggs Morgan, Kyler Lee Heberling, Anna Chase Heberling, and Edwyn Emerson Heberling; brother, Randy Briggs; sister, Louanne Gurganus and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to your favorite charity or call an old friend, co-worker and make them smile or make a child laugh or hug your wife.
