Warren Wade Powers II, 75, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, a man full of talent, humor, and a love for history and family, passed away on December 1, 2024. Born on December 27, 1948, Warren was the beloved son of Monett Shear Powers and Daniel McLeod Powers.
Warren was a devoted husband to his wife, Rita, whom he met while working together, he as a landscape designer and she as an interior designer. Their partnership grew into a beautiful romance that began with a dance and flourished into a lifetime of love and shared dreams.
Warren’s professional career won state and local acclaim for his works such as Laurel and Aurora Awards. He worked with the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) and the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association to help secure the industry goals achieved in the Florida legislature. He served as Area 2nd Vice President of the FHBA and was honored as a Life Director.
Once he retired as the owner of his landscape design business, they moved to Fort Lauderdale where Warren poured his heart and soul into transforming the gardens in his community into breathtaking paradises of texture and color. His fellow residents refer to it as "Warren's World."
Warren’s love for nature and dedication to his craft was a testament to his endless energy and creativity. His creative legacy will endure in the spaces he shaped and the lives he touched.
Known for his infectious laughter and vibrant spirit, Warren had a emarkable ability to light up any room. He was the life of every party, bringing people together with his quick wit, warm humor, and legendary “Gator” dance move. Warren’s joyful presence and love for making others laugh created countless cherished memories.
Warren’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife, Rita Williams Powers, their children, Warren Wade Powers lll (Courtney), Tammy Doerer (Bob), Alaine Ducharme (Rich), Terry Roe (Jason), Dawn Leitz (Scott); 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings, Monett Kent and John Powers.
Celebrations of Warren’s life will be held on December 21, 2024, from 3-5 p.m. at San Jose Country Club, 7529 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida and on December 29, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at The Warwick, 5100 DuPont Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Warren’s love for creating beautiful landscapes, the family requests donations be made to Daniel Kids and The Crockett Foundation. These contributions will help build a brighter future for young people who were not as fortunate as we were to experience the depth of his love and generosity. By supporting these causes, we can continue Warren's legacy of love and compassion.
