In August of 2018, Valerie was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. With such great faith, high spirits and resilience, it led her to battle and survive the disease for just over a year, until her body would not let her fight any longer. Valerie was always such a joy to be around. She was a school bus driver for 35+ years and she loved it. She also loved her students and people she worked with.
She preceded in death by her mother Shirley Hicks and father Donald Hicks. She is survived by her husband James Reynolds; her three daughters SunCere Register (Bryan), Shannon Benson (Michael) and Christy Deresinski; her sister Vickie Bielling; 2 brothers David Hicks and Donald Hicks Jr.; her 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and her beloved fur babies De-De and Ellie.
A viewing will be on January 06, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with her celebration of life on January 07, 2020 at 11 am, at the Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park at 7242 Normandy Blvd. We kindly ask in lieu of flowers, to please make a donation to the Jacksonville Humane Society in honor of Valerie Reynolds' or bring a donation of cat/dog food on the day of her celebration. Arrangements have been put in place for your items to be delivered to the Humane Society.
We know she is with Jesus pain free and happy again, watching over us. We love you and thank you for your prayers and everything you all have done for all of us.
