Terri Lynn Almond, 65 went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2024, following a valiant fight with a lengthy illness. Born on March 31, 1959, in Orange Park, Florida, Terri was an avid cook, enthusiastic nature lover, ardent patriot, and a devoted family member and friend.
One of Terri’s greatest joys was cooking for those she loved often by firing up and tending her smoker for many hours to produce the most incredibly delicious prime rib, brisket, pork shoulder, etc. that you have ever eaten. Terri also delighted in sharing her recipes and culinary techniques with everyone and never held back any “secret” ingredients.
A fervent animal lover, Terri had the uncanny ability to find and rescue a wide variety of God’s creatures, but often they found her. In just one incredible example, an exceptionally large, injured tortoise knocked on the front door to seek Terri’s help no doubt because he thought Terri was the living embodiment of Hugh Lofting’s Dr. Doolittle character. She was.
Terri loved America deeply and was always the first to stand for the pledge of allegiance and enthusiastically sing The Star-Spangled Banner. Terri’s love of country and humble gratitude for the blood and treasure spent to secure our liberty drove her to enlist in the Unites States Marine Corp where she spent six years in NAB Coronado supporting the Navy SEAL team whom she loved and honored.
Terri is survived by her sister in Christ, caregiver and best friend of 32 years, Yvonne, her brother Gary, aunt Mary ("Babs") and niece Savannah.
Finally, we express our profound gratitude to the Aspire Health Group care team for their compassion and support during Terri’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org whose mission is providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families and eradicating veteran homelessness.
A graveside service for Terri will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
