During WWII Sylvia worked at a munitions factory making rifles. Years later she worked for The Duval County School Board for 45 years. Later during that time, she held a second job as a Personal Trainer at a health club. After leaving the health club continued with the School Board till 2007.
During that same time, from 1998 held a second job as an Exercise Specialist and Resident Advocate at Some Place Like Home, an Assistant Living Facility. She worked there for 20 years until retiring at age 91.
Sylvia loved sports, especially football. For 13 years she was a season ticket holder for her favorite team, The Jacksonville Jaguars.
For 64 years, Sylvia was married to her loving husband Wayne August Spiering, and preceded by 3 brothers Skip (Alonzo), Angelo, Wally, and sister Terry.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Joy Adamaitis and her son Gordon Spiering. Two grandson’s Joey Adamaitis and Justin Lee. Additionally, many nieces and nephews.
For the last 8 years, Cherie Watson and Andrea Alvarez were Sylvia’s loving private caregivers.
The Memorial Service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1423 8th Ave N., Jacksonville Beach, FL, on Saturday 1/11/25 at 11:00 AM.
