Stella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, also aunt and great aunt to many. She was the " glue that held the family together" "the rock" that everyone knew they could depend upon. She believed in prayer and was a faithful warrior for family and friends. God gave Stella many gifts in this life, love, compassion, understanding and for those who knew her well, when her index finger was pointed in your directions she provided wisdom. God also gave her the gift of hospitality and she did well and proved worthy of that gift. Over the years, Stella and husband Fred opened their home to many family gatherings. For the past twelve years they have hosted the family Thanksgiving dinner at their home, which typically consisted of about 100 people. Most were family, those who were friends, were happy to be invited and considered as family. Even though her heart doctor once told her she had a small heart, everyone who met her knew Stella's heart was as big as all outdoors. She was generous with her time and talents. So many have been blessed with her famous scratch made Carrot Cake ( no better way to get your vegetables) which she generously gave to family and friends.
Having a happy outlook and seeing the good in people, Stella always enjoyed sharing a funny story of times gone by. She was a Westside girl all her life, thru and thru and stayed in touch with many life-long friends from Thomas Jefferson and neighborhood. She had no problem wearing a beautiful evening gown and when she felt like it would take off the high heels, carry them in her hand and if asked, she would tell you that she was "Proud to be a redneck girl."
God generously allowed this angel to walk among us. Heaven's gain is our loss and we will forever be blessed to have had the time we were given to share her life. Stella will be forever loved, cherished and missed.
A visitation for Stella will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hope for Life Baptist Church, 7725 Ramona Blvd W, Jacksonville, FL 32221.
