Samuel Leon Williams, 82, was born August 16, 1930 in Mingo, Mississippi to Samuel and Neomia Williams. The family moved 10 miles across the border into Alabama 2 years later where he lived until the age of 17. January 13, 1948 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was initially trained as a corpsman and later as a technician in bio-medical equipment repair. Sam also loved the game of golf. On July 1, 1978 Sam retired from the Navy with 30-years of continuous honorable service to his country. Sam is survived by his wife of 60 years Bettye Carr Williams: 3 children; Mike Williams of Huntsville, AL, Annette Stanford and Brenda Eldridge of Jacksonville, FL; 5 grand-children; Jacob and Jenny Stanford, Adam Eldridge of Jacksonville, Corey and Nicole Williams of Huntsville, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held at 12noon on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in the Chapel at Hardage-Giddens, Hendricks Avenue.
