Ruth was born in Puerto Rico and lived in New Bloomfield, PA before moving to Florida. She received her Registered Nurse degree from the Presbyterian School of Nursing in San Juan. She specialized in intensive and coronary care nursing and worked at the VA Hospital in New York City, Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA and Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA. During her many years in New Bloomfield, she was an active member of the Civic Club, Council of Church Women, Amaranth, and the Church of the Latter-day Saints.
Ruth sparkled in life and was blessed with a curious mind and an artistic eye, with a lifelong zest for learning. Her many hobbies included paper crafting, making jewelry, painting, sculpting and gardening. She was our resident genealogist and traced the family history back to pre-Columbian Spain. More importantly, her greatest passion was giving to others as a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend.
Ruth is survived by a large and loving family: brother Edgardo (Pilar) Gonzalez, niece Cristina (Geoff) Freeland-Burch; nephew Jonathan (Tricia) Freeland; nephew Francisco (Maribel) Gonzalez; niece Valeria (Michael) Kerr; niece Patricia (Scott) Deavenport; niece Luly Gonzalez; niece Ambar (Corey) Sexton; and other extended family members and friends who loved her dearly. The family would like to thank her close friends Donald Cook and Milagros Hernandez for their years of caring and support.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Crucita Gonzalez, her loving husband John Clouser, her twin sister Raquel Freeland, her brother Francisco Gonzalez, and her nephew Frank Freeland. We imagine a joyous reunion in heaven.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA.)
