Bob, as he was known, graduated from Robert E Lee High School in 1949, spending many hours as a member of the cross-country track team. He then went on to the University of Florida, where he graduated with a 5-year bachelor’s degree in architecture. Bob Received his draft notice and elected to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, where he served 3 years as a draftsman at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. During his time in Dayton, he met his wife, Pat. Shortly after his discharge from the Air Force, he and Pat married in Wheeling, West Virginia and moved back to his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. He and Pat were married 51 years. Bob began his career in architecture with the firm of Reynold, Smith & Hills. He then went on to start his own firm in about 1965 and retired in 2007. Bob was a very devoted Florida Gator fan and he and Pat had season tickets for many years. He also enjoyed fishing when he had the opportunity and he also enjoyed riding his bike around his neighborhood of Ortega. Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and taking them exploring in that same neighborhood.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Pat; son, Jeff; mother, Marie Ellis Wise; and father, Leland E. Wise.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Mackenna (Sunni); daughter in law, Shari Wise; grandsons, Kenneth Wise and Matt Grant (Bailey Adams); step-grandsons, Charles Ehler and Peter Ehler (Hallie); step great granddaughter, Alexa; sisters, Catherine Wise Glasgow and Nancy Wise Whipple (Danny); and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 12pm to 2pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will be held at 2pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
