Robert Henry Stanley Jr. was born in Chipley, Florida in 1959 to two loving parents Judith Lanelle and Robert Henry Stanley Sr. Robert was 62 years old and is survived by his wife of 40 years Vicky Lynn, his two children Steven Joseph Stanley and Kennan Matthew Stanley (Natalie), along with his three younger siblings Elizabeth Grace O’Keefe (Rick), Judith Lynn McQueeney (Charlie) and Broward Gregory Stanley (Kim). He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews, and with great anticipation of his first granddaughter, Noa Lynn Stanley.
Robert graduated as a three-sport letterman from Sandalwood High School and later went on to play baseball at Brewton Parker College. Soon after, he would enlist in the US Army, where he would meet the love of his life, Vicky, marrying her after just 3 short weeks of dating. Upon returning to Jacksonville, he would start a pool business with his brother and father. He would later go on, expanding the business with the addition of its screen enclosure division, leaving his mark on the business for 32 years.
Robert enjoyed many things, including playing his guitar, being involved in the lives of hundreds of kids through athletics. Coaching football and baseball over twenty years in Mandarin, popularly known as “Coach Hank”. He looked forward to his yearly visits back to Chipley to spend time with his loved ones. He was a comedian and glorified storyteller. He took great pride in raising his two sons and prioritized making them each feel idolized. They were the passion of his life, and his son Steven would quote, “We did everything together”. And they absolutely did. Whether it was leaving at the crack of dawn to make Kennan’s college baseball games in North Carolina, or sneaking into the shuffleboard court in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon to a surprised Steven. He was a hero and a role model to many kids, but none more than his two sons.
A visitation for Robert will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207.
