He was a simple but complicated man who could be a sweetheart & a wise guy at the same time. Richard lived in Jacksonville, FL for most of his life & his family was most important to him. A Southern rock die-hard, he loved music whether listening or playing his guitar with lifelong friends. A special thank you to the Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center for their continuous support of Richard & helping him through his sobriety journey. He was a success story if there ever was one. He may have suffered from Stage 4 lung cancer, but he always had a smile & positive words for “most” everyone he met.
He is survived by his daughter, Autumn Rice (Kevin McLaughlin), son Gary Rice, 4 sisters, Clintine Bowie, Gayle Selph, Irene Pittman (Adlai), Joann Cordell (Bob), 2 brothers, Ronald Rice & Wayne Rice (Linda), grandchildren, nieces & nephews & extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Vera Rice & son, Shawn Rice.
