She was an administrative and training professional who worked for the City of Jacksonville during the 1968 Consolidation. She also worked for AT&T, PTEC as well as other companies. She also owned her own training company, Sparks Consulting and Learning. She was deeply involved with church and participated as a deaconess, a children’s church minister, a youth minister, a cell group leader, and a woman’s minister, having been a former president of the local Aglow chapter. Her deepest passion was her love for her family and friends. She was always there, with help and love for all. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved cooking, music, poetry and animals. There truly isn’t enough time or words to describe her and everything she meant to her loved ones.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert H. McMillan, Sr. and Rhonda Elene Hall McMillan, her brother, Robert H. McMillan, Jr., her sister, Kathryn L. McMillan Forrest, and her husband, John L. Sparks. She is survived by her daughter, Joy Sparks Pozo, her son, James A. Sparks, her grandson, Peter L. Pozo, Jr., her brother, Daniel H. McMillan (Brenda), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. The visitation will be held on January 9, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the funeral service following at 6:00 p.m. She will be interned in Guyton, GA with a private family ceremony.
