Patricia Donaldson Brown

Mrs. Patricia Donaldson Brown, age 86, died on April 18, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Paul Schreiner Donaldson and Cecilia Agnes Greenya, and was born September 21,1930 in Hollywood, Florida. The eldest of 10 children, she spent her early childhood years on a farm in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. As the daughter of a traveling sales person, she shared many stories of the experiences she learned with her dad. In 1955, she met Robert (Bob) Eugene Brown at Ortega Pharmacy and they married in June 1957. Patricia and Bob enjoyed 42 years of a loving marriage. They were blessed with three children and spending time with their family and friends were very important. Patricia enjoyed her career at Prudential Insurance and upon the birth of her first child, she committed her full time to her family, and supporting Bob with his career. They enjoyed dancing and made sure they had a weekly “date night” at either the Ortega Dance Pier or Shad’s Pier in Jacksonville Beach. Robert preceded her in death in June of 1999.

In August 2009, Patricia married Henry (Hank) Kahler. They enjoyed a very full and active life and seldom missed Bingo games at the Naval Air Station and other local venues. Trips to Las Vegas, NV, Biloxi, MS, and Atlantic City, NJ were some of their favorite times. Hank preceded her in death in March of 2016.

Patricia was a generous, loving, and philanthropic individual. She truly believed in supporting organizations involving children, such as St. Jude Research Hospital, Boys Town, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, and St. Labre Indian School.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children; Paula Gibson, Bruce Brown, Rhonda Wind (Tracy); granddaughters, Jennifer Barr, Lauren Gibson; great-grandchild, Jordan Barr; sisters, June Finklea (Gary), Judy Manges; brother, Bob Donaldson (Janie); a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and friends.

A viewing will be held at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32207 at 10:00am on Saturday, April 22, 2017, followed by Celebration of Patricia’s Life at 11:00am.
