Pamela Rhodes Moon

Born on November 11, 1952, in Brunswick, GA, Pamela was preceded in death by her father, T.W. “Billy” Rhodes and her brother, Michael Rhodes.

Pamela is survived by her husband of 42 years, Randi Moon; their son, Andrew Moon; her mother, Ruby “Judy” Rhodes, of Jacksonville, FL; her brother, T. Mitchell Rhodes (Katherine) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; her sister, Penny Braucher (Bob), of Matthews, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

Pamela is now experiencing what she lived for: The wonderfulness of heaven with her Great Love and Friend, the Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

Having grown up moving often for her father’s business, Gate Petroleum, the family finally moved to Charlotte, where Pamela met Randi. The couple moved to Sunset Beach in 1979, where they managed the Continental Condominium Association on the island from 1979 to 1993.

Pamela and Randi were both saved on February 14, 1980. Since then, they have served in North Carolina and in Georgia.

Randi and Pamela were “serious about Jesus, setting up chairs by the swimming pool for Sunday morning service at the condo,” Randi said. “Sometimes the yard would be filled up with people from all over, like God put a bubble over us.”

They held leadership in Seaside Christian Fellowship, and they helped to found Brunswick Christian Center, a marvelous community of believers. Pamela was Chapter President of Women’s Aglow, a powerful ministry in Shallotte, NC, in which she traveled the region to speak, give testimony, and offer prayer.

Pamela taught a series in Discipleship classes, and she believed it was important to walk in forgiveness. She led children’s church for 25 years in both states. Any time she held a class for kids, she poured herself into it to ensure children could see God in nature, often using nests or seashells to adorn her lessons.

For four years, Pamela and Randi led the Altar Team Ministry at Victory Fellowship Church, in Thomasville, GA, which highlighted her gift of praying for people.

Her witness was so strong, that often, Randi noticed everyone wanted to be in Pamela’s line after church service because they could sense the power of the Lord working through her.

She and Randi served together on the Communion Team, and Pamela

trained others to be committed to represent the Lord during the serious, spiritual experience.

Truly a Disciple of the Lord, some of Pamela’s favorite experiences were the regular Monday Night prayer group with people of all backgrounds and cultures, which included spontaneous healings and

resolutions to before-unanswered prayers.

“I judge God faithful for who He is and who He has been in my life,” Pamela often said, sharing her words to live by. These words were inspired by her favorite Bible verse: Hebrews 11:11-12 “By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore, from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.”

At home, Pamela was always creative. She designed the family home and landscape, basing decisions such as window placements, rock porches, and plants and flowers on sunlight, weather, and breezes. She fostered her love of God's beauty in nature. One of Pamela's greatest joys was planting and caring for her flowers and plants. She cherished the beauty of the sky, the clouds, and the beach.

Pamela was a loving, caring mother, who homeschooled Andrew during the challenging years of middle school; and she poured her life into Randi and Andrew.

The family is being served by Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home in Thomasville, GA, and Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel & Oaklawn Cemetery, in Jacksonville, FL.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Oaklawn Cemetery, in Jacksonville, FL. Officiating clergy are Pastor Dwight Reeves and Pastor David Helms.
