On Saturday February 11, 2023, Nancy Jean Dayton, a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away suddenly in her home in Jacksonville, Florida, she was 69 years young. Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Dayton and her beloved children, Sara Vitagliano, Nicholas DePalo and wife Lisa DePalo, Deanna DePalo, and three stepchildren Bree DePalo, Joanna Dayton, and Sarah Dayton. As well as her five grandchildren, Gabriel, Anna Sofia, Vincent, Liliana and Nico. Nancy is also survived by her siblings, Jim & Sandy, David & Joan, Valerie, Lori and Candy along with several nieces and nephews. Nancy is predeceased by her loving parents Donald and Virginia Moore, her sister Bonnie and her brother Michael.
Nancy could light up any room that she entered and had a huge heart that was always very giving and compassionate. She loved to laugh and truly enjoyed the holidays with family and friends. She loved to cook, and ALWAYS made "enough food for an army", as she would say. Nancy was born Nancy Jean Moore in Suffield, CT on October 19, 1953. She grew up in Shrewsbury. VT with her parents and six siblings, where she enjoyed horseback riding, snowmobiling, fashion and was the Queen of the cotillion in high school, among other achievements.
Nancy moved to Virginia in the early 1980's with her then- husband Vincent A. DePalo (now deceased) to raise their kids and begin her career in modeling and cosmetology all while raising three kids. She had a very full life doing what she loved, watching her children play sports and always made sure to have a full dinner on the table every night for her family. She and her kids moved back to Vermont in 1994. Soon after, she met Douglas Dayton and they wed in 2010. Nancy found a love for shih tzus and they became a huge part of her life and were still to this day. Her children were her pride and joy and Nancy always showed her unwavering dedication, love and support to those she loved. Once her grandchildren were born, her dedication grew even more and she adored all of her grandchildren with unmeasurable love and adoration. Her family was truly her most valuable treasure.
Her beauty and wisdom will be forever missed but will never be forgotten. "It takes both rain and sunshine to make a rainbow".
We are sincerely grateful for the loving support and comfort from our friends during this difficult time.
