Minnie E. Thompson

Thompson, Minnie E. Thompson, 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Minnie was born in Alexandria, Louisiana and moved to Jacksonville at the age of 4 years. Prior to her retirement she was a Registered Nurse at Baptist Medical Center. She was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Jacksonville and was active in a fellowship group that served the church. She also belonged to a prayer group. She enjoyed traveling and assisted in an organized tour group.

She was predeceased by her parents and husband, W. Rufus Thompson, Jr. and their son, William R. Thompson, III.

Survivors include her brother, Ernest A. Kopp Jr., several nieces, nephews and many loving friends. Minnie will be remembered as a kind and loving sister, wife, mother and friend.

A Vigil Service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 5:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, with funeral services at the funeral home on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm. With Father Fred Parke officiating Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville.
