Michael Justin Westbrook was born June 29th, 1983 to Larry J. Westbrook and Nancy Lindsay Westbrook at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. His older brother James Westbrook is his only sibling. Michael was a born again Christian, and attended First Baptist Church Downtown Jacksonville, where his grandpa, Dr. Homer G. Lindsay, Jr. was the pastor. Michael began having health problems in 2006, and was diagnosed with progressive MS in May 2008. Just two weeks after his beloved Grandma, Mrs. Shirley T. Lindsay passed away. Michael loved his church, his pastor, his family and his friends. Michael was raised in Mandarin until his family moved to Arlington when he was nine. It was shortly after moving to Arlington that Michael got his nickname: Big Mike. Michael was passionate about Gator sports, Jaguars football and golf. Michael graduated from Frank Peterson High School in 2002. After high school Michael's jobs ranged from cooking to refinancing houses, but his true passion was automotive detailing. He was most proud of his detailing business, working on everything from automobiles to small planes and even a helicopter. There were many days when his Mom would come home from work and find 3 or 4 of his friends and their cars in the drive way being washed or worked on. Throughout his long struggle with MS, Michael never lost his strong faith in God, his love for life, or his sense of humor. Michael was a kind soul with an infectious smile and a larger than life personality. He cared about others and when people would visit him he wouldn't let them leave without asking by name about their family. He was in horrible pain and Multiple Sclerosis had weakened his body but he put others ahead of himself. Michael went home to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep on December 19th, 2015.
Michael's favorite scripture in the Bible was Isaiah 54:17
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the
Lord.
