Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Angela Cheri (Higgs) Christy, his mother, Helen Maxine Case, his brother, Richard Christy (Maria Christy), his sister, Merry Reinsch (Ken Reinsch) and his children: Kasandra Rinnet (Danny Rinnet), Jeramy Christy (Jennifer Christy), Austin Christy, and Emalee Matthews (Preston Matthews). He was a proud “Pa-Pa” to seven beautiful grandchildren: Gabby, Reilly, Clara, Caisen, Aiden, EmaLynn, and Obi, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his eighth grandchild, Alaia.
Known for his good cooking and good jokes, Mike's favorite days were spent on the river, canoeing and camping, or at the beach. His happiest moments were those spent with his children and grandchildren. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling extensively; seeing his family in different states.
Mike was a "Jack of all Trades." You name it - he could cook it, build it, grow it, fix it, and if he couldn’t do any of that, he would find it. He dabbled in piano, held the “high dive” record at Highlands Jr. High for several years, and was recognized in Jacksonville as one of the top A/C technicians. He was the proud owner of "Christy's Wings and Things," a restaurant he spontaneously decided to open one Wednesday night and had a successful run for over ten years, expanding to two locations in Callahan and Jacksonville during that time.
A true family man, Mike's friends were considered family, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand. His generosity knew no bounds; he would literally give the shirt off his back to someone in need. Everyone who knew Mike was better for it, and his legacy of kindness and love will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
We will be celebrating the great life of Mike on Saturday, May 25th at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205, Visitation at 1:00 PM, service at 2:00 PM followed by a committal at 3:00 PM. All who knew him are welcome to join us in remembering and honoring his remarkable life.
