The independent, strong, spirited Mary Lee Sellers was born a Faircloth to Jack & Willa on July 16, 1921, in Vidalia, Georgia. She was the second of ten children and became Daddy’s helper leaving her older sister with Mama at home. Disagreements occurred but their home was full of love and devotion taught by her parents’ examples. In 1945, when a hometown boy named Frank Sellers returned from the war and found her in Jacksonville, he asked her to marry him. And she did! Together they built a life and raised a family instilling that same love and loyalty she’d experienced as a child and then she passed it on to her grandchildren. She did it by being a great Mema enjoying nothing more than spending time with them-playing on the floor, swimming/fishing at the lake, competing in fierce, late night card games and all the while showing them how to be fair, kind and loving. She loved life yet on Saturday, May 24, 2014, when God called her home to heaven she departed this world trusting Jesus to take her there (John 3:16-18). Each of us cherish our own unique memories of Mary Lee and are grateful for her presence and the richness only she could bring to our lives. She leaves two loyal siblings: Larry Faircloth and Jo Hall, three devoted children: Ron Sellers (Susan), Ben Sellers (Susan) and Shirley Sellers and five loving grandchildren: Bev Waugh (Ray), Heath Ward, Brian Pugh (Lisa), Merrett Sellers, and Melissa Reed (Rob). Oh, and let’s not forget her five very special great-grandchildren: Bebe, Courtney, Jacob, Riley and Reese. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor Mary Lee with a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association. Mary Lee would like that. Arrangements under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A visitation will be held in the chapel on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Funeral services to be held after the visitation at 12:00pm with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
