Martha King left the best legacy a mom can leave. She left a large, God loving, productive family. She is survived by her three children, Roberta Messier, Barbara Caruso (Fred), and Oscar King (Adela); nine grandchildren, William (Billy) Ready, Cynthia Gray (Tom), Stephen Messier, Mark Caruso (Ashley), Jonathan Caruso (Nikki), Timothy Caruso (Jessica),Keith King, Joshua King(Jessica) Anthony King (Katie); and eight great grandchildren, Branden Gray, Christopher Gray, Justin Messier, Ryleigh Caruso, Graeme Caruso, Amelia Caruso, Willow Caruso, and Landon King.
Mom lived a long and active life, she was 94 years old. She started her professional career in 1951 and retired after 32 years from Sears and Roebuck as a secretary, to the head of the auditing department. Mom was never afraid of hard, physical work. She helped with the construction of a large addition to her home and, also, with the construction of her lake home.
Mom’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, swimming, and camping with them. She also enjoyed traveling across the United States with her brother Bill Beck and his wife Irene. She has been in almost every state, including Alaska. Mom was a good and loving parent who instilled deep values, a love of life, a love of God, and a strong work ethic. She cannot be replaced and will always be in our hearts.
Services will be held on Sunday, October 13 beginning at 1:30pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Her grandchildren will be her honorary pall bearers. In lieu of flowers, the family request that a donation be made, in her name, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or that you make a happy memory with your family by taking them out to dinner.
