Margarita Boeuf Johnson, 86, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in the Community Hospice of Jacksonville. Born June 6, 1933 in Mexico City, Mexico CDMX. Daughter of Pablo Boeuf and Clotilde de Ochoa.
Margarita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She came to this country not speaking the English language, but taught herself through the newspaper and the television program, I Love Lucy. She was known for making many beautiful wedding cakes and for her paintings as well as a few murals at Nemours Children’s Clinic. She was a classic pianist in her youth, a great lover of classical music, including the Minute Waltz by Frederic Chopin and Fur Elise by Beethoven. She was a devoted member of Assumption Parish and School. Over the last forty years, she was a cook in the convent, worked in the library and cafeteria in the school, volunteered to work Bingo, and ran the parish gift shop. Working along with Fr. Ebren she was an advocate for Hispanic families to obtain citizenship. Amongst family she was jokingly known as St. Francesca for her unwavering, undying love for all animals. A member of the Women’s Club of Jacksonville, where she represented her country, through her food and clothes in numerous events.
Predeceased by her husband of forty-nine years, George W. Johnson Jr. She is survived by her family: Amy Johnson-Hutchins, (Paul and Isabella), Pamela Johnson and George W. Johnson III, (Liz), granddaughters Gloria Foxman, (Maxwell), Lindsay McMahon, (Alexander), and great-granddaughters, Rose and Amalia McMahon, Benny Barrow, (Melissa, Chelsea, Landon, and Trevor), Michelle West, (Eddie, Colt, Hannah, Kaleigh, Zoey, and Jaxon), Sergio Ochoa, (Regina), and extended family in Mexico.
Everyone who met her was embraced with an open heart, a sense of humor, a gift of hospitality, and a warm, beautiful smile to make all feel welcomed.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, December 27, 2019 with a Rosary Service at 7:30 pm at Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, December 28, 2019 also at Assumption Catholic Church, followed by the Interment at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
