Louie Jackson Matthews, Jr.”Jack”, 75, passed away on October 30 at his home. Jack was born May 28, 1938 in Thomaston, GA. After moving to Jacksonville, he attended and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1959. Jack worked at Center Brothers Inc. for 35 years before retiring. He has been a member of the Moose Lodge #455 since 1970 and a member of the FL Carpenter’s Union for 50 years. Jack was an avid golfer and loyal Gator fan maintaining season tickets for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Carol. He also leaves a son, Louie Jackson Matthews, III and 1 daughter, Katherine Love (Bill) and 2 step-daughters, Joy Weeks (Donald,) and Harriet Courtney (Walt). He was the proud Grandpa to 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Jack was a wonderful husband, father and friend to many. A Memorial Service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home at 4115 Hendricks Avenue on Thurs., November 8 at 2:00. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice of North East Florida.
