Laura Nadine Wynne

WYNNE- Surrounded with the love of her children, Nadine M. Wynne, 85, followed her Savior, Jesus Christ, early Thursday morning, April 19, 2012, and joined her loved ones in Heaven. She was born Laura Nadine McDonald on July 9, 1926 in Quitman, MS to Leroy S. and Rosa J. (Smith) McDonald. As a child, she tended the family’s chicken coop and loved to go hunting with her father. She learned responsibility early on and developed an unfailing devotion to family and friends.

In the early 1940’s, Nadine moved to Mobile, AL. There, she met and married William C. Jones, who preceded her in death in the Fall of 1968. Nadine worked as a bookkeeper until the 1970’s when she decided to start her own Interior Design business, called Nadine’s Interiors. For 38 years, her craftsmanship produced custom works in interior decorating, including upholstery, slip covers, draperies, etc. for homes and businesses across the Southeast U.S.; but most notably in the Mobile, AL, and Jacksonville/ Ponte Vedra, FL areas. Known for being young at heart and active, she was described by many as pleasant, with the ability to capture hearts and appeared “much younger than her stated age”. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, reading, and the company of family and friends.

Her best friend and spouse of 27 years, William Joseph Wynne, whom she loved dearly and missed so much, preceded her in death in October 2009; her parents, Leroy and Rosa, also preceded her; along with her sisters Elizabeth Lombardi, Lucille Metcalf, Desma Dearman, and brothers Frank and Clarence McDonald. She is survived by two sisters, Bertha Johnson and Nell Beckman, both of Saraland, AL; daughters Glenda Drake, Keri-Lynn Jones, Traci Grulke (LeRoy), and Pam Tritch (Wil); sons Michael Jones and Joseph Wynne; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama. Memorial Services will commence at 2 p.m. with interment following at Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
