Katherine (Gardner) was born in Birmingham, AL on February 6, 1921 to parents Thomas and Anne Gardner. When she was 9, the family moved to St. Augustine. She graduated from Ketterlinus High School and attended Maryville College in Tennessee from 1938-40.
Katherine was the loving wife of Cornelius Post of St. Augustine for more than 62 years, and the mother of six. She loved the outdoors, gardening, and sewing and appreciated the simple pleasures in life. She had a very strong faith in Christ and was respectful of others. She exhibited an inner strength and optimistic attitude in her daily life.
She served as secretary of the Memorial Lutheran Church in St. Augustine for more than twelve years and was a faithful member of Shepherd of The Woods Lutheran Church in Jacksonville.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius Post; sons, Cornelius Allen Post and Mark Thomas Post, of Jacksonville; and grandson, Onno Robert Post II, of Port St. Lucie.
Katherine is survived by her brother Robert Gardner, Seminole, FL; her children, Onno Robert Post and his wife “Butch” of Port St. Lucie, Suzanne Marie Post, Franklin, NC, Stephen Charles Post and his wife Mary Ellen, Greenville, SC, Elizabeth Lee Lowman and her husband Tony of Jacksonville, FL. Katherine had twelve grand children and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10th in Shepherd of The Woods Lutheran Church, 7860 Southside Blvd., Jacksonville, FL with Pastor George Johnson as Officiant, followed by interment at 2:00 p.m. in Craig Memorial Park, 2600 Old Moultrie Rd, Saint Augustine, FL (904) 824-1672.
