He married Frances Cuartero Lopez in 1950. Julio lived and worked in New York City at the Brass Rail Restaurant before moving to Jacksonville, FL. In 1987, he starting working at NADEP, NAS Jacksonville in the Commissary and retired from there. Julio’s favorite pastimes were cooking, gardening and music; he was part of a singing group in his youth in Puerto Rico. He was always outgoing and enjoyed being social and also was a parishioner at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
Julio is survived by sisters, Margarita Sanchez, Juanita Tur, Daisy Rijos, Edith Vega and Judith Mercado; brother, Juan Lopez; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife, Frances Cuartero Lopez and parents, Juan and Isidra Lopez.
A funeral service for Julio will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Following the funeral service will be a committal service at 1:00 PM at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
