Joseph P. Oliver, 65, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rona S. Oliver and son, Ian. He is also survived by his sister, Jayne Ruesch of Golden, CO.
Joe grew up in Fairfield County Connecticut. After graduating from Freyburg Academy in Freyburg, Maine, he enlisted in the Army serving as a crew chief in Germany in the Army Air Corps. Upon his return from service, he worked as an airplane mechanic at Westair at the Westchester County Airport in New York. He then moved to the marine field working at Cunningham Marine Hydraulics, before establishing his own company, Dependable Hydraulics Incorporated in Jacksonville in 2001. Well known for his expertise and workmanship throughout the marine community, he traveled the World and the United States completing jobs and making impressions with both his work ethic and his character.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257 with Chaplain Dave Holliday as celebrant.
