Jose Santiago

Jose “Joey” Santiago was given his wings on the early morning hours of October 7th, 2023. His final days were spent surrounded by an abundance of family and friends at the UF Shands hospital in Gainesville, FL.

Jose was born in Brooklyn NY, on May 28th 1989. He is survived by his father and mother Jose & Carmen Santiago, and is the youngest amongst his 7 brothers and sisters. He leaves behind the loves of his life, his two boys Julious and Elias.

Jose grew up a very rambunctious child with a kind heart and wild soul. His early childhood years were spent playing baseball for Joe Torre little league and driving his mom crazy climbing walls like Spider-Man. After moving to Jacksonville FL at the age of 8, he embraced the game of football at Pop Warner where he thrived on the field. Throughout his years he learned to be an all around tradesman, there was nothing he couldn’t do. He was always helping his friends and neighbors mastering it all from car detailing, remodeling, landscape and so much more. He always had a love for music.. tapping a pen or pencil on any hard surface or wall he could find to make a beat. He could battle anyone - anytime, and loved to make music. While a lot of his music was never made public, his music profile can be found on SoundCloud where he goes by SosaNova. He loved to imitate characters and quotes from movies such as Friday, Ace Ventura, South Park and many more. He would do anything to get you to laugh.. He proved himself to be a strong, talented and resilient young man.

Jose’s passing was both unexpected and a heavy hit to everyone’s heart who truly knew “Joey”. He will forever be in our thoughts and prayers as he watches over us from Gods embrace.

A visitation for Jose will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 16, 2023 at 4:00 PM. A committal service will occur Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207.
