John was one of 4 children born to John Joseph Rusak, Sr & Helen Rusak on April 20, 1918 in Richmond, VA. He was predeceased by his brother; Walter Rusak, sister; Jenny Stawski and daughter; Jeanene R Whittaker.
John is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jean Parker Rusak (Jacksonville, FL) brother; Eddie Rusak (Richmond, VA); daughter; Janice R. Kelvin (Richard) of Mechanicsville, VA; son, John Joseph Rusak III (Karen) of Richmond, VA; daughter, Jo-Jeen M. Rusak of Richmond, VA; daughter Lisa Y. Rusak of Jacksonville, FL and son; Waverly F.Rusak (Kimberly) of Jacksonville, FL. 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great-grand children lovingly called him “Pop”.
John was a WWII Veteran serving in the United States Navy as an Aviation Ordanienceman. After the war he was a floral designer by trade for 25 plus years & after retiring and moving to Florida he was a longtime, faithful employee of Publix store#163. His smile & pocket full of candy was shared by many who came through his line or shared a cup of coffee. He was also a member of San Jose Catholic Church.
Family and friends will gather from 6:00-8:00PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Greenlawn Cemetery located at 4300 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
