Jace graduated from Centerville High School, Centerville, TX, in 1991. During his junior year of high school, he was a foreign exchange student and lived in New Zealand. He loved that experience and even adopted the dialect! Upon completion of high school, Jace attended his beloved Texas A&M University and graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. He began his work career with AIM Investments and worked at other companies including Hewitt Associates, where he met his wife. At the time of his death, Jace was employed with Fidelity Investments as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Jace married the love of his life Michelle in November of 2001. The two did everything together including international travel, sporting clays, exercise, cooking, and watching French police dramas. They so enjoyed doing things with each other as a team. Jace “dabbled” in everything and loved the finer things in life! He was into music & guitars, motorcycles & fast cars, gardening & pets, soccer & languages, cooking & eating, and anything Texas, especially Texas A&M and Buc-ee’s. Jace had such an affinity for Texas A&M that he and Michelle established an endowment to the university. He was so charismatic and outgoing, he had the ability to connect with anyone and everyone and people loved being around him. He was very quick witted so he especially loved to throw in some sarcasm and teasing during every conversation.
His mother Susan Cooper Mullen preceded Jace in death when he was 21 years old. His grandparents Chuck & Geri Cooper and James & Ophelia Mullen had also preceded him in death. Jace is survived by his wife Michelle, his father & step-mother Phillip & Vicki Mullen, brother James (Renee) Mullen, step-sisters Amy (Brendan) Mangrum, Kim (Jesse) Sisco, and Ashley (Ben) Allen, nephew Darian (Carli) Burns, niece Susan Mullen, great nephew Elijah Burns, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. His in-laws, Stanley & Phyllis Azubalis, with whom he had a special closeness, also survive him.
A 2 p.m. visitation and 3 p.m. memorial service for Jace will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel located at 4801 San Jose Boulevard, in Jacksonville, FL, with Pastor Bob Hovey officiating.
