Jimmie Frank Wilson, age 89, of Bryceville, FL passed away August 6, 2024. Jimmie was born on May 4, 1935 in Benton, FL to Frances V. Wilson and Nellie Crews Wilson. Jimmie proudly served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne 1955-1958. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. Jimmie retired from Strate Welding Supply.
Jimmie was an avid Florida Gators fan. He and his brother, Julian, worked as steel workers during one of the UF stadium expansions in Gainesville. He also loved fishing and traveling roads less traveled. Jimmie enjoyed camping, especially in Destin, FL., and taking his family on hikes. He was known for his famous fried turkey, sour cream and pig lickin’ cakes. Jimmie was a member of the Stafford Caldwell Masonic Lodge for 40 years, where he was also Past Master. He was also a member of the Mandarin Shrine Club and the Moose.
Jimmie is survived by his daughter, Belinda Pepera (John); sisters, Janice Yvonne Soles (Tim) and Janell Elaine Toomey; brothers, Gary Wilson (Pam) and Tommy Joe Wilson (Nancy); and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Nellie Wilson; and brother, Julian C. Wilson.
A visitation for Jimmie will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. A committal service will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
