As a child, Jerry always longed for something new and exciting and that lead him to join the United States Air Force as an E.O.D technician. After his "explosive" military service, he settled back down in his home state of Florida.
He had a strong love for family and enjoyed cultivating this passion by delving into his family's history. He spent a lot of his free time researching his genealogy and helping others discover their pasts as well.
He enjoyed going to the movies to see the biggest Blockbusters then turning right around and going home to watch the cheesiest Sci-Fi movie or John Wayne classic all while snuggled up with his favorite children, his furbabies.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cloie; his children Kathy, Jane, and Tyler; his grandchildren CJ, Ansleigh, and Andrew; his brother Robert (Ruth); and his many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his father Olan, mother Irene, brothers Gene and Benny, his sisters Sandra and Wanda, and by his many furbabies.
A memorial will be held in his honor this Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 2:00 pm. There will be a service with reception to follow at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home on 7242 Normandy Blvd Jacksonville, FL 32205. Dress is casual, jeans are appropriate. To honor Jerry’s personal style, we encourage everyone to break out your finest Hawaiian shirt. Anyone will have the opportunity to speak, please come prepared to share a funny memory, a corny dad-joke, or even your favorite dirty joke.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made in his honor to No More Homeless Pets or Saint Francis Animal Clinic.
