He graduated high school in Alderson, WV and attended West Virginia University before enlisting in the army. He spent 3 years in the army where his duty stations were Ft. Leonardwood, MO and Hiedleberg, Germany.
After the army he worked for CSX Railroad for 36 years, 1973 to 2009. During his time at CSX, he was part of the CSX Rally Readers, and he read to 2-4 year olds.
Jerry’s hobbies included fishing, camping, traveling, going to casinos and cookouts with family and friends. After retirement, Jerry loved having monthly luncheons with his retired co-workers and watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats!
He is predeceased by his son, Jerry Kenny Beverage II, whom passed away in 2011.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Lou Beverage (Jacksonville), his mother, Edith Mae Beverage (Rice Lake, WI), his sister, Belinda Mae Beverage (Rice Lake, WI), sister-in-law, Billie Hinton (Kentucky), Cousin, Bonnie Proffitt (Kentucky) and special friends, Debbie and Lynn Upchurch (Florida).
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.
There will be a visitation at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home prior to the graveside service at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Paris, KY.
