James Alan Whaley

He was born on June 16, 1947 (his parent’s first anniversary) in Huntington, WV.

He graduated in 1965 from Henry Clay High School in Lexington, KY. He married his lovely bride Ann on March 27th, 1981.

They had a 35 year long disagreement over who loved who first. He swore he loved her 1st; she swears she loved him 1st.

Jim had a 20 year career in the Navy and was proud to be a plank owner on the USS Eisenhower (CVN 69). After retiring

he entered civil service and worked at NSB Kings Bay and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

He was predeceased by his parents Bob and Dolores Whaley, father-in-law John Balanky, and brother-in-law David Balanky.

He is survived by his wife Ann, son Shawn, sister Melody Benton and her husband Larry, mother-in-law Adrienne Balanky,

and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews.

Jim’s first love was for his family. He was a devoted, loving husband and father. Our sorrow is for ourselves because

we know he is rejoicing with God, family, and friends in Heaven. His hobbies included almost anything to do with Ford Mustangs.

His favorite was his first, a red 1965 fastback. Fast forward 50 years and he owned a 2005 coupe, a 2007 convertible, and a 2013 convertible.

His greatest passion was golf. He strongly believed in playing by the rules. To follow the rules you have to know the rules. Many evenings

were spent reading the USGA Rules of Golf and the USGA Decisions on the Rules of Golf.

We have lost a wonderful man who will be greatly missed and we look forward to our reunion in Heaven.

Golf attire is welcome at the services.

A visitation will be held Friday March 25, 2016 at 2pm, with a funeral service to follow at 3pm at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A burial service will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A reception at the funeral home will follow the burial.
